Admissions to Our Program
Services provided at Chattanooga Room in the Inn are free of charge and include a temporary home, one meal a day, referrals for affordable or free health care, personal hygiene supplies, referrals for mental health and individual/family counseling, life skills training and parenting classes on-site, referrals and assistance to find affordable housing, and intensive case management services to achieve self sufficiency. The program allows women and children to find stability, thereby increasing their opportunities and chances for independence when they graduate the program.

You will need a referral from your current case worker to be considered for our program. Referrals and case workers may be obtained through local organizations such as Homeless Healthcare (click button below), school, doctors, etc. Once referrals are received by Programming staff, potential residents will be contacted for an over-the-phone assessment. Referrals will be contacted directly by our social workers if they have been accepted into the program. Referral sources will be updated on referral status by Programming staff. Please do not call to check on referral status and individual updates. Any referral that is denied will be reported to the referral source and other resources will be given. Please note we do not keep a waitlist.

Considerations for Admission:
-
Must be willing to work toward gaining full-time employment if not currently employed
-
If an individual is currently in recovery or has an active dependency diagnosis, proof of completion of a rehabilitation program and 90 days sobriety must be provided.
-
Must pass a background check comparable to the Chattanooga Housing Authority admission guidelines
-
Must be willing to work on setting goals to achieve self sufficiency: seek employment until hired, attend vocational/educational classes, perform community service hours if unemployable, save money, get housing, complete daily assigned chores, attend life skills and parenting classes, etc.

If we are not able to admit you for any reason, there are other local organizations that may be able to help you with immediate needs and housing either overnight or on a shorter-term basis. Please click the button for Other Local Resources to discover if those resources are appropriate for your situation.
Our primary referral source is now the Coordinated Entry System which people who qualify can get into by calling 211 if they are in this region. Accessing Coordinated Entry does not guarantee a referral to Chattanooga Room in the Inn but gets the household on the waiting lists for the most appropriate programs for the household. Those who call 211 should state that they are homeless and need help getting services.

Services provided by Chattanooga Room in the Inn are offered on a nondiscriminatory basis without regard to age, race, religion, gender, or disability. While our residential facility is only offered to women and children experiencing homelessness, community-based services such as case management and housing assistance are available to anyone experiencing homelessness by way of the Coordinated Entry System offered through the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition.
